Don’t do anyone any favors.
I went to court a while back for what I thought was a slam dunk case. I was being sued by someone who engaged in illegal activity and I was sure that I would win.
I was wrong.
At the beginning of our session, I found out the plaintiff had defective service and the judge gave me the option to postpone court. I got the impresison that the judge wanted me to settle the issue in question since all applicable parties were present, and I obliged.
That was a big mistake.
Because I decided to proceed (doing everyone a favor besides myself), I gave the plaintiff an opportunity at victory that they would not have otherwise.
I ended up losing in what I believe was a completely outrageous ruling.
That’s the last time I will ever proceed with court as a defendant, when I have the option to make things more difficult for the plaintiff.
