I made the following changes in the last 6 months:
1. Reading instead of watching TV
2. Meditating instead of spending time on social networks
3. Tasting (for real) food at breakfast, lunch and dinner instead of staring at my smartphone
How did I do it?
1. I sold my TV
2. I deactivated all my social network accounts (except for Linkedin)
3. I sold my old (hyper technological) smartphone and bought a $29.99 phone that can just make and receive calls
Results?
1. I read almost 100 books
2. I am much more calm, relaxed and focused. Therefore I learn faster and remember more
3. I can finally tell what the food I eat tastes like. In addition I have much better conversations with my family, friends and my partner
Now imagine how those good habits will compound in few years…
EDIT1: Thank you all for you support! I want to share my progress here:
With more free time I had the chance to complete few projects I wanted to do in a long time but never found the time or the necessary focus to do so. Those are the progresses I made in the last five months:
- Wrote two E-books and started to write other two (though they are still work in progress).
- My blog is gradually improving and I formed the habit of writing at least two articles per week.
- I recently produced two online courses (working on a third one).
- I slew down in reading a little bit but still keep my pace at about 3-4 books per month (depending on the length of the book and how interested I am about the subject. Some months I am able to do better than that. Although reading is a pleasure and therefore I don't want to force on that).
- Also produced other content for my blog and other online resources (videos, articles and so on)
Not sure if I were able to do all those things if I didn't change some of my habits. On the other hand, I still didn't accomplish as mush as I wanted to. Therefore, I hope my progresses within the next six months will be better than the previous once. Let's see...
