Why do you use anti-bacterial soap? Does the killing of very small living things bother you in any way?
I’ve learned that most people who claim to be bothered by the killing of animals are actually just bothered by the killing of cute, furry animals.
The same people who complain when someone hunts for a deer would likely have no problem killing a spider or roach or even a snake if they saw one.
I personally don’t hunt, because I never got into it and the last thing I need now is to take up a new hobby. But I do fish. Hardly anyone ever complains about fishermen, only hunters. Why? Because fish aren’t cute and furry.
But, to answer your question: Why do some people hunt (or fish)?
- It’s fun.
- You can eat the animals when you’re done.
- It’s necessary in some places. Here in Illinois, they encourage deer hunting, because there are too many deer.
- It’s a tradition in some families and some cultures.
- If done correctly, the animal doesn’t feel a thing. It’s actually more humane than a slaughterhouse.
