What's the wisest decision you made during your teenage years?

I made some of my best decisions during my teens, and those decisions follow me to this day (I just turned LX). In no particular order:

  • I decided not to join the US Navy in 1974 after I caught them lying to me
  • became a police cadet in a suburban Chicago town (best on the job training I could ask for)
  • did not date my best friend's sisters (you read that right)
  • chose some outstanding people to be my brothers and sisters
  • became an EMT
  • broke up with one of my other friend's sister (sometimes I just do not learn)
  • joined the track team
  • stood up to some bullies for a friend, short trip to the ER
  • started critical listening to people older than me, followed some, disregarded to others, but only after careful consideration either way
  • refused to listen to the Bee Gees
  • started seeing myself 5, then ten, then 30 years ahead (I've peaked)
  • questioned my faith, then questioned my questions
  • put my weaknesses to work for me

Thanks for asking, Marissa.
