Can you bring a rifle back from deployment if you capture it?

After Desert Storm, every unit rotating back home had inspectors crawling up their asses looking for contraband. Anyone caught with so much as a shell casing got Article 15ed, and their unit sent to the rear of the line shipping back...not the kinda thing that would put a fellow in good stead with their comrades.
