As a Yank from across the pond, I can tell you the one thing that many Americans consider 'The Most British Thing Ever'. That would be when Brits endured 70 days plus of the bombing of London by the Luftwaffe. In fact, the 1970 film 'Battle of Britain' is quite popular in America.
One of the reasons is because America has never had to go through something like that, i.e. our biggest city...say New York City...being bombed steadily for more than two months. I think many Americans really admire the British spirit on that one, and consider it one of the best Brit moments. Not that Americans don't have courage, but I'm not sure New Yorkers would simply go on business as usual, as the Brits did in London during the Blitz. The way the Brits 'just went on about' during the Blitz and kept sending up the Spitfires is something much admired in America.
"Heinkels. Ten thousand. Fifty-plus..." (Line from the famous picture.)
