Is a Golden Globe or an Oscar more prestigious? Why?

Awards that are given by peers are usually viewed as more prestigious, because peers, better than anyone else, understand the work.  For that reason, and for its longevity (about 15 years longer than the Golden Globes), the Oscar is generally considered more prestigious.
