Was Shakespeare wealthy?

Moderately. He was part-owner of the Globe Theater. When he died, he left several hundred pounds and various properties to his wife and children in his will. Each pound was worth about $1,000 in modern money, so we're talking about a considerable fortune.

He was wealthy enough to afford a coat of arms and a ceremonial sword, which entitled him to be called a "gentleman". That alone had cost him 15 pounds.

So I'd say he was the modern equivalent of upper middle class. Not ultra-wealthy, but more than just comfortable.
