How do you describe the joy a programmer feels at the moment he hits compile and his code works?

This is only a cool thing if you’ve just written a shitload of code all at once without testing it as you were doing so. Which just seems kind of silly.

And I’ll add, in the cases where I did write a lot of code without testing it (i.e. on pet projects or if I’m scaffolding a demo etc.) and then hit run, it has never just worked the first time. Ever. If I’m lucky maybe after the 4th or 7th time. But if we’re talking > 40 lines, it hasn’t worked the first time, ever.
