First off, with the utterly horrifying way that the woman has been treated for having the nerve to help disabled and minority children attend school, to try to do something about the lack of health insurance for poor Americans, to stand in favor of gay and lesbian rights, to state out loud that women’s rights are human rights … somehow she still manages to give a shit for people. After being savagely, viciously, extremely personally attacked by the very people she’s helping for pretty much her entire professional career, after being buried under avalanches of fake “scandals” for four goddamned decades, she still tries to help them.
I’m not going to say that I might not have been able to do it. I know for a fact I wouldn’t have been willing to do it. I’d have been the first person to stand at the podium and say, “You know what? You can all go to hell. Save yourselves, you damned bunch of buttholes.”
Somehow, she doesn’t do that. She is beyond amazing.
And yes, it matters that she is a woman. I’m not enough of a doormat to act like that doesn’t matter to keep from offending “cute boys.” I’m not fearful of making men think I’m not a “good sport” or “cute” and lack a “sense of humor.” I’m also sickened to my core that in the 21 century, we still have to act like this matters, and young women and girls still feel like they have to apologize or make excuses for acknowledging that a woman is actually the best qualified candidate for anything at all much less the most powerful public office on the planet.
And she is. She is insanely qualified. It’s appalling to me that freshman Senators and Governors who haven’t even completed their full term — not to mention sociopathic corrupt egotists without any government experience whatsoever — can all plausibly run for office and even win as long as they have penises, but a woman needs to have sat as a Senator for two goddamned terms and been a Secretary of State before she’s allowed to have the temerity to be the frontrunner. Why who does that stuck-up bitch Little Miss Thing think she is?
Clinton’s campaign inspires me because once we can get one damned grotesquely overqualified woman in the office, maybe we’re over the initial hump and we can start seeing women frontrunners who are as much middle-grade schlemiels as the men have been up to this point, and still get elected.
I am just UP TO HERE with this bullshit. I’m fucking 50 years old, and it’s the 21st century. If we can’t elect a woman who is this goddamned overqualified for the office, who leaves pretty much every man who has ever run for or won the office in the dust, well, when the fuck will we?
