My Humanities teacher got fired for a tweet he wrote.
I won't disclose the screenshot that miraculously made it into the hands of every single student he's teaching (people in my grade have this habit of ‘stalking' teachers by typing their name into Google and sifting through results) for obvious reasons, but the tweet was pretty bad.
Okay, it was really bad.
It wasn't one tweet, exactly, but a buildup of tweets (that were racist, sexist, misogynistic, etc.—the stuff trolls normally wrote, except he meant it) and a few NSFW pictures and videos.
Now, there wouldn't really have been a problem with this whole thing if he hadn't encouraged his students to follow his social media accounts. Encouraged as in:
*in the middle of class*
Teacher: hey, remember to follow my twitter!
One of the students who held a grudge against him reported him to the principal, and shortly thereafter he was fired.
It was a huge deal.
Parents knew about it.
Everyone knew about it.
I sort of feel sorry for him, in a way. I mean, he wasn't exactly the best teacher, but I could tell he tried to teach his students.
