Is Mitt Romney a feasible candidate for the Republican Party for the 2016 presidential election?

During the 2008 primaries, when the GOP had a viable candidate running, most Republicans spent their time talking shit about Romney. He changed his positions too often, he wasn't trustworthy, he was a socialist, he was a carpetbagger, and (worst of all) he was a Mormon. No one liked him.

In 2012, when he was running against a bunch of fucking lunatics, the talk stopped. He was the only hope the GOP had, so the dialog about him changed. But I don't think the feelings about him ever really did. He was still the guy no one liked. He was just being compared to Rick Santorum instead of John McCain.

He might be able to get nominated again. He won't win the general, the Democrats almost can't help nominating someone who would beat him soundly, but that's true of anyone the GOP is likely to nominate this time. The electoral map and their own internal divisiveness basically ensure that.

Republicans who believe government has a place, and the ability to do good, can't get nominated now. And that means they can't win the White House. Romney can get his ass kicked as well as anyone. Better, really, since he's got experience.
