What would an independent Scotland mean for the United States?

The State Department would need to build a new embassy and have staff assigned to Edinburgh.  It might mean realigning NATO in some way to accommodate for whatever shift in defense assets were take from/left in Scotland.  My sincere guess is that the UK will not be amenable to leaving anything like nuclear or cutting edge weapons technology.  She might part with some coastal vessels, artillery, jets, etc.  

Other than that, the UK will still be the cornerstone of UK/USA Agreement nations' defense and intelligence security.
