No, his odds would actually be somewhat worse.
What Donald J. Trump's supporters seem to forget or simply fail to acknowledge is that he has zero experience in government. While that may seem to be a "benefit", in reality it is a huge deficit for Trump as it makes it readily apparent that he is unqualified for the Presidency. Trump knows this and has so far steered the political discussion away from his deficiencies and toward demagoguery and personal attacks upon his opponents.
The private sector is almost nothing like the public one. Trump cannot simply fire his way out of problems, there are laws that would prevent him from undertaking many of the proposals that he was presented; and the media will scrutinize him and his actions in manners that a CEO of a major business would never have to endure. Since Donald Trump has never had to endure this and since he seems to be chafing under the rather petty scrutiny that is part of the election process, one has to wonder how he would respond if/when he cannot silence or deter his critics.
The mask of outrageousness that Donald Trump is wearing is simply a disguise to cover for the fact that he has no ability to lead in a democratic society. If he lost that mask or simply stopped choosing to wear, his shortcomings would quickly become apparent and few rational people would then still consider him to be a viable candidate.
