Can I sue a gun company if their brand was used to kill or hurt me?

It's been tried. So far as I know, the attempts were unsuccessful. You might have a claim if you could show the design or manufacture of the gun was defective. If your claim is only "I got shot by that gun," then you probably have no case. Guns are made to shoot things, and among the things can be people.

This doesn't mean that people don't try. One of these took place in the 1990s with Sturm, Ruger, and Co., usually known as just "Ruger."  The details can be found here: 964 F2d 376 Yarbrough v. Sturm Ruger & Co. There is another lawsuit against Ruger where the claim was that the gun was used to kill a child (the child was playing with the gun and shot himself). Ruger won that one. Halliday v. Sturn, Ruger & Co
