I love that you used the word “unlearn”, because that’s exactly how it felt. I unlearned things that I believed were true about myself, through many years of therapy.
-I am the reason for other people’s unhappiness or misfortune
-I deserve to be hurt
-I’m stupid and not worthy of love
-I’m always wrong
-I’ll never be good enough
-I was a burden and unwanted
-My wishes and rights will be denied and disrespected.
-I have no power and no rights of my own
If you want to break your child, shame them. Ignore them. Push them away when they reach out to you in need. Be cold. Use manipulation to control them. Force them to obey. Never listen to them. Never validate their feelings. Look at your children as objects to control, little things that should always make you look good. Yup, that’s how to break your children.
