When I was 21 I learned that unlike what I had been told, I had never been a guy. A few years later an MRI scan confirmed this: I had been born as a hermaphrodite, with both male and female genitals.
The next plot twist was finding out just how backwards the medical system in the Netherlands is, with no help to be found, until finally fleeing to Germany, over a decade after the initial discovery.
Suffice it to say that as a teenager I never saw this plot twist in my life coming.
