I walked into the garage one day just as my cat was killing something. He looked up at me as he quickly gulped down whatever it was in one swallow. I knelt down to inspect what it was he was eating. I was equally shocked and disgusted to find the intact spinal cord, complete with heart and lungs (or some other organs) of the poor critter, stripped bare of tissue, fur, head and limbs. It looked like a perfect veterinary model for study of the circulatory system. In an amazing feat, the cat somehow must have “peeled” it like a banana and eaten only the skin. I don't know what little animal it may have been, however. All the distinguishing identification had been quickly gulped down as soon as the cat heard me open the door. I had gotten there just in time to see the organs spasm one last time. The creepiest part was the way my cat was staring at me as I looked on in horror at the gruesome carnage on the ground before me; That proud twinkle in his eye, and satisfied grin underneath his twitching whiskers. Meow.
