Why does Ernest W Adams think Trump won the election?

I don’t honestly know why anybody would vote for a man with a trial for child rape hanging over his head; when I was young such a person would not have been considered for the nomination for even a second, much less voted on for the presidency. I am not capable of fathoming the kind of mind that would obsess about an E-mail server yet ignore an admitted history as a sexual predator. Still less can I understand what kind of woman would do that, and apparently a significant number of women voted for Trump in spite of his history.

Some people are saying that if Bernie Sanders had been nominated instead of Hillary Clinton, many of Trump’s voters would have voted for Bernie instead. If that’s true, then we have a number of complete morons on the electoral rolls. Bernie’s policies were diametrically opposed to Trump’s. Bernie is not like Trump in manner or character. I can’t fathom that reasoning either.

The pundits are pointing in all directions. It’s the Democratic party’s fault for ignoring the white working class, or for not nominating Bernie. It’s the Libertarians’ fault for voting for Gary Johnson instead of Hillary Clinton. It’s Hillary’s fault for being unlikeable. It’s the Democratic voters’ fault for being complacent and staying home. It’s the Trump voters’ fault for not liking the idea of a female president, whatever her merits. It’s the Left’s fault for being snide about the Right—not that the Right are any less snide about the Left, mind you. It’s Clinton’s fault for being pro-choice.

In any case, I think it’s a combination of all these things; you can’t point to any one as the reason. And there’s one more: For the second time in my lifetime, the Democrat won the popular vote and the Republican won the Electoral College seats, landing us with a complete doofus. Last time it was Al Gore and George W. Bush; this time it is Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. When the Electoral College votes do not reflect the popular vote, something is badly wrong with the system.
