What is the weirdest and most incomprehensible thing that we absolutely know is true?

This is going to take some time to get my head around:

• It's said that space is remote, yet it's only an hour's drive away.
• Space smells of cooked steak and the moon smells of gunpowder.
• In space, fire is blue and spherical.
• The first animal in space wasn't a monkey or a dog, but a fruit fly.
• The time it takes for light to travel from the centre of the sun to Earth is around a hundred thousand years, yet it takes around 8 minutes from the surface.
