What does “better” mean?
I have multiple partners. Eve is a “better” dancer than Zaiah, but Zaiah is a “better” cook. Joreth is a “better” photographer than Shelly, but Shelly is a “better” research scientist. What scale do you use to determine who the “better” partner is?
And what is it with “the” primary partner? I have two primary partners. If I meet someone absolutely amazing tomorrow, who knows? Maybe I will have three “primary” partners.
The question seems to me to indicate a monogamous mindset. Monogamous mindsets do not map well onto polyamory. If I meet a “better” partner than my current partners, then I suppose maybe I’ll…keep dating my current partners, and consider whether I want to start dating this “better” person?
What happens if you have a child, and then you have another child who’s better than your primary child? That’s kind of how the question sounds to my ears.
