What is the most badass thing about Napoleon Bonaparte?

Napoleon Bonaparte has escaped from his island prison at Elba, made his way to France and raised a meagre army with the insane delusion to conquer France. You, a lowly soldier, have been sent by the newly restored king Louis XVIII to apprehend this man.

You used to serve with Napoleon, seeing his bravery and personal excellence at every possible turn. While he was willing to have his men die, the brilliance of his actions meant that they often lived, and triumphed over their foes.

And the new King, placed on the throne by foreign powers after hiding around for years? What has he done to preserve the French nation?

The army of Louis meets with Napoleon’s ragged group of 700 soldiers on the road to Paris. You are ordered to prepare to fire. Total silence ensues.

But Napoleon slowly walks forward.

With arms outstretched, he smiles. Opening his mouth, he tells his men, “Here I am. Kill your Emperor, if you wish”.

Silence.

One man lowers his musket.

Another.

They start to walk across the field.

The entire army deserts and pledges allegiance to Napoleon.

He is a deity on earth.
