What's the convention for rating an Uber driver?

5 is the standard you start with for showing up, clean car, pleasant person, getting you to your destination safely. That's all the driver signed-up for and that's all you should expect. Deduct points for any of the above not being met.

Offering you water is NOT part of the deal. If you get offered, great. Otherwise no change in rating. Hitting traffic isn't your driver's fault. Having had a choice in the matter, he/she wouldn't want to be stuck in traffic either.

In short, don't look for excuses to deduct points. Instead look for reasons to keep him/her at 5 even if something else goes wrong. Is he/she particularly nice? Offering to play YOUR music or playing something great to begin with? Using GPS or a service like Waze To get you to your destination faster with less headaches? All those things should count for something.

Remember, as another Quoran said, this is your driver's lifeline. Handle it with extreme caution.
