Twitch, the live-streaming service for video gaming enthusiast, and video-game maker Blizzard Entertainment recently treated their Twitter fans to a jovial back and forth in a move that points to what has become a new era in online brand responses.
The GIF-heavy exchange started when Blizzard tweeted about a live event slated for next week to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
Here’s Twitch’s response:

The conversation proved two things:
1. You don’t have to be mean or snarky for your tweets to gain attention.
2. When you take legal teams out of the equation and open opportunities, brand managers can get pretty creative.
We’re starting to see more organizations’ social media teams inject personality into the way they respond to other users (and organizations). For example, Wendy’s was recently lauded for upping its Twitter-response game.
What organizations’ online teams are you seeing who are doing a good job of responding creatively and in brand voice?
