I was getting ready to head home for Christmas when an "urgent" meeting came up at work. It was optional. I was not going to go, but at the last minute I decided to attend the meeting and fly back to the USA the following day.
The day of my original trip was December 21, 1988; and I was supposed to fly on Pan Am Flight 103 from LHR to JFK.
That flight never made it to New York. It was blown up over Lockerbie, Scotland. Everyone on board the flight was killed.
I have no idea what the urgent meeting was about, but 25 years later I am thankful that I attended.
