How did one small decision change your life?

When I was in grad school pursuing PhD in Computer Science and the medics told me I need to consult a psychiatrist for my anxiety. My small decision was that I sent a letter to my adviser that I'm going on indefinite leave, I packed my bags, went to India, learnt that it was indeed a medical condition and got treated within a couple of weeks.

This is what followed: I became an algorithmic trader for one year. I then did professionally photography for a year and a half, and traveled to over 60 countries, averaging about 4 a month. Thereafter I opened a company in supply chain management, and exited. After the two year break, I came back to grad school, finished my PhD, published a dozen papers, and finally now work as a scientist, in peace and tranquility.
