How did one small decision change your life?

About 6-7 yrs ago I was asked by my Architect to repair a door for a pedantic and pompous client and reluctantly complied, knowing the kind of people I'd be dealing with. Having completed the work, my carpenter was denied payment, as I expected, leaving me to pay the bill.
A few months passed when I received a call from the client's estranged wife who asked me to repair bullet holes in the walls from shots that were fired killing her husband. I completed the tasks and made good the house for selling which left my client delighted. A year on she called again, remembering the service we rendered, and employed me to remodel her new home.

We got on exceptionally well and I was, cordially,  invited to the house warming party. A relationship immediately ensued and we have been together for 5 years in the most blissful, life changing union. All for the repair of a door.
