What are the main reasons why people don't switch from Windows PCs to Mac?

I don't switch to a Mac (from my current Linux-computer, but none of these reasons are specific to Linux) for these reasons:

  • Cost. A Mac with equivalent performance cost at least 50% more than a PC does, a Macbook Pro that fulfills my needs would be over $2000, that's a hefty price-tag.
  • Lack of competition. I happen to think that capitalism and competition is a good way of ensuring choice and good value for consumers. Mac is a monopoly, there's Apple and that's it. In contrast, many different companies assemble PCs, if you don't like Dell you can always get a HP.
  • Closed ecosystem. I dislike Apples tendency to build walled gardens. This is even more pronounced on iOS than on macos, but the same principle applies.
  • Tinkerer-hostile. Stuff like this is repulsive to me: Apple changes iPhone screws specifically to deter DIY repairs, mods. You know what, if I want to take apart a gadget that I own because I bought it I don't appreciate deliberate attempts to hinder me from doing what I want to my own property.
