My wife met a group of friends of friends in NYC at a bar… there was one girl who was pretty drunk. As the drunk girl left, the others put her in a cab, and pressed a bag on her despite the girl saying it wasn’t hers.
My wife found they had given the drunk girl my wife’s bag, and no one knew how to get hold of her.
She eventually got hold of the girl who had, unsurprisingly, misplaced the bag somewhere on her way home.
My wife was extremely upset, it was an expensive bag, had her phone and wallet in it and none of the people who had given her bag away felt any responsibility for their actions.
Next day she got a call from a friend who said a cab driver was trying to get in touch.
The driver had her bag (he went through her phone calling her contacts list) .
When she called the cab driver, he did mention the owner of the bag had been mean to him, but my wife explained that had been the drunk girl who had taken it.
He drove to my wife on his day off to deliver it to her.
She was surprised he went to such efforts, particularly as the girl had been abusive, but he said he would not have been doing his duty as a good Muslim if he didn’t restore it.
